All about Björn Andrésen
Björn Andrésen was a breakout acting star who got popular in the industry at the mere age of 15. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1955, and did most of his schooling in Denmark.
His initial entry into stardom began at the age of 14, when, after the demise of his mother, he was sent to live with his maternal grandmother and grandfather. His grandmother became a pivotal character in landing him roles and gigs, and she often used to force him to work. His big break came in 2015, when he starred as one of the faces in Italian director Luchino Visconti’s ‘Death in Venice.’ He played the role of the beautiful Tadzio, who becomes the object of an older man’s fascination and obsession in the film.
This project helped him land many other gigs in the industry, and also got him the name of the most beautiful boy in the world as well.
The tragedy behind ‘Death in Venice’
While the role is one of his most loved and well-known ones, it did not come without its own demons. In an old interview with The Guardian, the actor had talked about how horrifying the experience had been for him to work with Visconti at the time.He had often shared how the director took him to gay bars at the age of 16, and what happened to him there left him in a deep state of trauma.
“Luchino was the sort of cultural predator who would sacrifice anything or anyone for the work,” he had stated in the interview, also adding that he is not happy that, despite everything, ‘Death in Venice’ will always be one of his most remembered roles.
On the musical front
Beyond acting on the big and small screen, the star also had a successful, albeit lesser-known about career as a musician. He was a well-known pianist and musician, and even rose to popularity in Japan after his film. This resulted in him getting the opportunity to tour the country and even perform with the Sven Erics dance band. The actor is survived by his daughter Robine, as well as his ex-partner, poet Susanna Roman.
