An 18-year-old woman reportedly ended her life at Yakalakuntapalli village of Mudigubba mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district on Sunday night, after a quarrel with her husband over a mobile phone.
The Mudigubba police said that the deceased was identified as Neema Katkar, a migrant worker from Maharashtra. She was married to Sudhir Katkar about six months ago, and the couple had migrated to Mudigubba, earning their livelihood by working in charcoal units.
On Sunday night, the woman reportedly requested her husband to give her his mobile phone so that she could speak to her mother. However, Sudhir refused her, replying that the mobile was not fully charged. Though the woman said that she would get it charged and return in a few minutes, the husband was reluctant to give his mobile. This led to a fight between the two, which led to the woman taking the extreme step. The police shifted the body to Mudigubba Area Hospital and took up further investigation.
