Every new year brings new trends, whether you are ready for them or not so, out with the millennial grey and in with? Well, that is exactly what new data is here to reveal. As 2026 begins, search data is revealing which design trends are actually taking off in homes around the world.

From statement furniture to bold paint choices, people are clearly done with boring walls and generic spaces.Davincified, a platform that turns your photos into custom paint-by-numbers kits, analysed what people have been searching for online to figure out which decor trends are climbing fastest. “These trends show people want spaces that feel personal, not just Pinterest-perfect,” said Dr Eleni Nicolaou, Art Therapist and Creative Wellness Expert at Davincified.

Home decor trends 2026: From artichoke green walls to oversized art

Davincified analysed 12 months of Google search data to find which home decor trends are getting the most attention and which ones are climbing fastest. They pulled keywords from top interior design publications, then tracked real search behaviour to see what people are actually looking for. For the fastest-growing trends, only terms showing positive year-over-year growth made the cut.

Blank walls are officially over. Large wall art dominates the search rankings with 33,100 monthly searches, proving that people want statement pieces that actually fill their spaces. Close behind is small sofa for bedroom at 14,800 searches because who says sofas are just for living rooms?Oversized wall art comes in third with 8,100 searches, doubling down on the “go big or go home” mentality. Meanwhile, brutalist furniture and timber bed frames tie at 6,600 searches each, showing that chunky, architectural pieces are having a moment.“What we're seeing across these searches is a move toward spaces that feel substantial and grounded,” said Dr Nicolaou. “People want their homes to have weight and presence, whether that's through oversized art or natural materials like wood.”Wood is everywhere in these results. Cosy home decor, rustic modern kitchen, and wood interior design all clock in at 3,600 searches, while dark wood furniture hits 2,900.

The message is clear: people are craving warmth and natural materials.

Kitchens are getting a makeover too. Freestanding kitchen furniture (2,900 searches) and vintage kitchen decor (2,400 searches) suggest homeowners are tired of the same built-in cabinets everyone else has. They want character.

Here is where things get interesting. Artichoke green paint is growing faster than any other trend at 1.43% year-over-year. It's a moody, earthy shade that works in kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms, and apparently everyone's curious about it.Oversized wall art appears again, this time growing at 1.24%. It is not only popular, but getting more popular. People are done with those tiny prints that disappear on the wall.

The design shifts defining 2026

Unfitted kitchen design is climbing at 0.67%, which makes sense given the searches for freestanding kitchen furniture. The trend is moving away from matchy-matchy built-ins toward kitchens that look more like living spaces, with standalone pieces you can actually take with you if you move.“These trends tell us something important about how people live now,” said Dr Nicolaou. “Renters want beautiful spaces too but they need flexibility.

Freestanding furniture, wall art, and paint colours are all things you can change without a landlord's permission.”Upholstery detailing (0.33% growth) and hand painted tiles (0.26% growth) are both customisable touches that don't require structural changes. Same goes for layered interior design (0.24% growth), which is really just a fancy way of saying “add more texture and personality.”

The wood trend shows up here too. Both dark wood furniture and natural wood furniture are growing at 0.24% and 0.21% respectively.

However, here's the difference: homeowners might invest in a dark wood dining table that'll last decades, while renters are probably looking at smaller natural wood pieces they can move around.“Long-term investments versus short-lived trends is the split we're seeing,” explained Dr Nicolaou. “Hand painted tiles and custom furniture are investments. Paint colours and wall art? Those can change with your mood, your lease, or the next trend cycle.”Dr Eleni Nicolaou concluded, “These trends reveal something deeper than simply aesthetic preferences. They show us that people are actively seeking ways to create spaces that support their wellbeing. Someone who’s searching for 'cosy home decor' or 'layered interior design’ is looking for comfort and connection. The rise of personalised elements like hand painted tiles and custom wall art reflects a growing understanding that our environments shape how we feel.
