The teaser trailer for Milly Alcock’s ‘Supergirl’ is officially here, and the image of the superhero this time around has been changed drastically. James Gunn, the famed director of the upcoming film, recently talked about working on the superhero project.
While talking about working on the film, he shared that finally, after years, Supergirl as a character is being allowed to be messy and not kept up, unlike all of her previous versions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast and team of ‘Supergirl’ attended the New York event set ahead of the trailer drop. During the event, director Gillespie and James Gunn both weighed in on how this time around, Supergirl’s character is completely different from its previous incarnations.The director added, “This is really an anti-hero story. She’s got a lot of demons, a lot of baggage coming into this, which is very different forms where Superman is in his life.” Gunn, who is backing the project and was also the mastermind behind previous DC films as well, also weighed in on how messy this character is going to be. He also compared the character to previous female superheroes and added, “So many times female superheroes are so perfect.
She’s not that at all. Like male superheroes have been allowed to be for a while.”The trailer itself co-relates with the team’s statements, as it ends with Milly Alcock saying that while Superman see’s the good in people, while she “see’s the truth.”
Premise of ‘Supergirl’
The story follows Alcock as Supergirl, a powerful alien being in her 20s, celebrating her birthday in a lonesome bar and hopping around from one universe to another. Getting involved with the alien girl Ruthye, she goes on a long journey of revenge across the universes, only to realise that she may have bit off more than she can chew.
At the time of writing, the trailer has already garnered around 7.5 million views. Her character was first introduced in David Corenswet-led ‘Superman’, where she crashed into the Fortress of Soltitude, complained to Superman about why he moved the door, and took her dog with her.
