Ministry for Culture and Tourism Kandula Durgesh on Saturday announced that Godavari water will be released from Sir Arthur Cotton barrage at Dowleswaram on Sunday for the Kharif season-2026-27 in the Godavari Delta.

The East Godavari District Irrigation Advisory Board met on Saturday, unveiling a plan of action to meet the needs for irrigation and drinking water in the Godavari delta.

Addressing the members and Water Resource Department officials, Mr. Durgesh said, “In the Godavari Delta, the water will be released to the areas where the repair works of the irrigation canals are over. However, the department is likely to complete canal repair works by mid-June.”

Meanwhile, there will be no impact on the release of water for drinking water purposes in the Godavari Delta.

Water Resources Department Superintendent Engineer G. Srinivasa Rao has assured the farmers and people of the Godavari Delta that preparations and sharing of Godavari water are being done to meet the requirements for irrigation and drinking till October 31.
