Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana on Wednesday distributed government-sanctioned cheques to the family members of a murder victim at R&B Guest House in Nellore, assuring that justice would be delivered.
Tirumalasetti Lakshmi Naidu (25) and two others were attacked on October 2 by Kakarla Harischandra Prasad and his father Madhava Rao, who struck them with their vehicle in Rallapadu village, Gudluru mandal, SPSR Nellore district. Lakshmi Naidu died on the spot, while the other two sustained injuries.
Mr. Narayana handed a cheque of ₹5 lakh to Sujatha, Naidu’s wife, and two cheques of ₹5 lakh each to their daughters, Lahanvi Sri and Tanvi Sri. In addition to the cash, the government has allocated six acres of land to the family and will cover the cost of the daughters’ education.
Pawan Kumar, another victim who is undergoing treatment in a hospital, received ₹5 lakh and four acres of land. Thirumalasetti Bhargava Naidu, who also sustained injuries, was given ₹3 lakh. “As soon as Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu learned about Lakshmi Naidu’s murder, he immediately formed a three-member committee,” Mr. Narayana said, adding that the government would take strict action against the culprits based on the committee’s final report. He also assured that all necessary support would be provided to the victim’s family.
Earlier, the Chief Minister announced plans to establish a fast-track court for the case to ensure the culprits are punished swiftly. He emphasized that measures would be taken to prevent such incidents in the state.
Kandukur MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao described the incident as tragic and said it stemmed from personal issues between two friends. Sujatha clarified that the murder case had no political motive.
