Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi has promised release of necessary grants for widening roads in Raichur district in Karnataka.

Chairing a review meeting in Raichur on June 16, Mr. Jarkiholi said that development of an area depends on the condition of roads and good connectivity. Officers should ensure proper maintenance of district, taluk and hobli level roads, and improve connectivity, he advised.

While reviewing the progress of work on national highways passing through the district, the Minister suggested speeding up work on construction of the national highway between Raichur and Belagavi.

Minister for Minor Irrigation N.S. Boseraju and MLA Basanagouda Daddal instructed officers to repair roads. They said that women and children are suffering from dust thrown up by roads in bad condition. They instructed officials to ensure necessary action for smooth passage of rain water and drain water.

MLA Hampanagouda Badarli and Basanagouda Turvihal said that the condition of the road between Siruguppa and Ballari that passes through Sindhanur Assembly constituency has worsened. They demand that officials repair the road immediately.

MLA Karemma Nayak demanded an end to collection of toll at two locations in Deodurga Assembly constituency.

Expressing serious concern over frequent accidents, MLC A. Vasant Kumar instructed the officers to take remedial measures on the road between Kapagal and Kurdi villages.

MP G. Kumar Naik, MLA Hampayya Naik, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K. and other officers were present.
