Minor landslip in Munnar town, no casualties reported

A landslip occurred near RO Junction in Munnar on Monday (August 18, 2025). According to Revenue department officials, a large amount of soil fell from a 60-ft slope following heavy rain in the morning.

Devikulam Subcollector V.M. Arya visited the spot. “No casualties were reported in the landslip. However, it has been decided to ban roadside parking and roadside shops in the area to avoid any eventualities,” said the official.

On July 26 too

A landslip had occurred in the same area on July 26 too, destroying roadside shops. Since the shops had closed before the landslip, no casualties were reported then too.

RO Junction is one of the main locations in Munnar and many roadside shops are situated in the area.
