Minor stabs father to death in Surat after argument over affair, detained

A minor in Surat killed his father following a quarrel over the latter’s alleged illicit relationship. Police have taken the boy into custody.

According to officials, the incident took place on Saturday morning when Chetan Rathod of Pali was playing games on his mobile phone outside his house. His son approached him, and the two got into a heated argument. In the middle of the quarrel, the boy attacked his father with a knife. Chetan sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

Police said that the accused, who worked as a water bottle delivery boy, had been at odds with his father for the past month. Earlier, Chetan had a fight with his wife and son when his alleged illicit relationship came to light. Following the confrontation, Chetan’s wife and son left for her maternal home but returned a few days later.

The situation escalated again last night when the father and son quarrelled over the same issue. On Saturday morning, the dispute turned fatal as the boy stabbed his father.

As the altercation drew public attention, a crowd gathered at the spot and informed the police. Authorities reached the scene, sent Chetan’s body for post-mortem, and detained his son.
