Kashmir’s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemned the Red Fort blast on Tuesday (November 11, 2025), and imprisoned Kashmiri MP, Engineer Rashid, of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), is to hold a two-day hunger strike to condemn the deaths.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic car blast in Delhi that has claimed precious lives and injured many. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the swift recovery of those injured. May almighty Allah grant strength and patience to all affected by this tragedy,” the Mirwaiz said, in a post on X.

MP Rashid, imprisoned at the Tihar Jail, Delhi, decided to start a two-day hunger protest against the attack from November 12, according to his party. “Er. In a letter shared by the AIP, Rashid expressed his deep grief over the tragic loss of precious human lives in the Delhi blast. “I condemn the attack unequivocally; it is an assault on humanity,” the jailed MP said.
Shun path of violence
The MP also raised his concern over media reports that even educated Kashmiris, including doctors, are being pushed towards the path of violence. “Through his hunger strike, he wants to remind Kashmiris that we cannot afford to lose more young and educated people,” the AIP spokesman said.

Mr. Nabi said that Mr. Rashid has made it clear on behalf of his electorate that “violence has no place in a civilised society.” “The AIP leader appealed to all stakeholders to give genuine peace a fair chance,” he said.
MP Rashid also quoted Gandhi’s words in the letter: “If I am to make a choice between supporting violence or being called a coward, I would like to be called a coward.”
