Mishap at Krishi Mela, one killed

In a mishap on the first day of Krishi Mela in Dharwad, a man was killed after a tractor which was being unloaded from a truck fell on him on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as R. Parashumaram, 58, of Manasageri village in Tumakuru district.

According to the police, the mishap occurred when the iron pole attached to the vehicle for unloading the mini-tractor broke and it fell on him.

The incident subsequently led to a protest by members of Samata Sene, who demanded that a compensation of ₹25 lakh and a job on compassionate grounds should be given to one of the family members.
