The Golden State Warriors will be facing the Los Angeles Lakers on February 28. Ahead of the big clash, head coach Steve Kerr made a stunning revelation about their recent acquisition, Kristaps Porzingis.

The team got a versatile big man for their on-court venture. But the talks were mostly around his off-court health issues that have been going on for quite some time. Kristaps was reportedly suffering from postural tachycardia syndrome. However, the recent interaction with Steve brought some new facts to light. The rumors of Kristaps suffering from POTS are apparently not true and were dismissed as "misinformation."

He was simply sick, which was the major reason behind the athlete missing out on the games. Steve confirmed this with Onsi Saleh, the GM of the Atlanta Hawks.

Steve Kerr refutes rumors of Kristaps Porzingis suffering from POTS

Kristaps Porzingis missed 18 games during the 2025-2026 season. 17 of them were when he played for the Atlanta Hawks and 1 for the Golden State Warriors. His absence has fueled the rumors of the athlete suffering from POTS. This is a condition that causes increased heart rate, dizziness and fatigue when transitioning from lying down to getting up.

While the rumors are increasing with each missed game, Warriors coach Steve Kerr decided to break the silence on the issue once and for all.

The head coach stated, “When I heard about the trade, I read about his POTS diagnosis and then called Onsi Saleh, who was with us, he’s now Atlanta’s GM and he’s a good friend of mine. I called him and I said, ‘is this POTS story real?' And he said it’s actually not POTS. It was not POTS.' So that was some misinformation that was out there.”

Steve made the revelation during his appearance on Willard and Dubs, a Bay Area radio show. He further added, “I don’t know if anybody’s asked him about it, but bottom line is whatever was bothering him in Atlanta that was keeping him out had nothing to do with the illness last week.” Steve continued, “He was just sick. There’s a lot going around as you guys know and he was sick enough where he was losing a lot of fluid and contagious so we just kept him home, but he’s doing a lot better now.

Will Kristaps Porzingis play against the Los Angeles Lakers?

As of now, Kristaps Porzingis has been listed as questionable for the Golden State Warriors game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The status has not yet changed. The athlete’s absence has raised concerns among the fans. His recent game was when he played against the Boston Celtics. Kristaps played for 17 minutes and scored 12 points with 1 assist and 1 rebound. He is currently averaging 16.8 points with 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
