Travis Turner, a missing high school football coach in Virginia, is now at the center of serious child sex charges, and the family of his alleged victim says the truth is even more disturbing. According to police, those include five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor. The case focuses on alleged text and picture messages between Turner and a 16 year old female student.He disappeared on November 20, 2025, just days after police began investigating. Authorities say he was last seen walking into the Appalachian woods near his home, carrying a firearm.

Three months later, there have been no confirmed sightings. Now, the girl’s family has spoken to The US Sun, sharing new claims about the messages and raising questions about how the school handled the situation.

According to the family, Travis Turner allegedly sent photos exposing himself to the 16 year old student during text exchanges that lasted about three months. A source told The US Sun, “It all happened very quickly.

First came the accusation, then the police became involved. Then Turner went missing. It was overwhelming.”The school reportedly learned about the alleged messages after the girl was overheard discussing them in the library. The family claims she was questioned by school officials without her parents being told. Two days later, Turner fled.The alleged meeting between school leaders and Turner took place on November 18, 2025.

He attended school the next morning but was later placed on leave during the day. On November 20, he vanished.Virginia State Police were on their way to his home when they discovered he was gone. His family attorney later said Turner left behind his car, wallet, cash, license, medication, glasses, and keys. Police used drones and K 9 teams, but he has not been found.Despite the charges, Travis Turner was reportedly paid by the school until late January and was officially terminated on February 9, according to The US Sun.The girl’s family says she is in a “very depressive state” and has been mocked by other students. They also criticized Union High School principal Jerred Chandler, claiming the school failed to notify them properly.In December, a mother in the Wise County Public Schools district emailed board chair Larry Greear and a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. She wrote, “These patterns point to a systemic issue that can no longer be ignored.” She also claimed officials may have failed to report the accusations within 24 hours, as required by Virginia law.
