State digital CSR platform seeks to improve project visibility, donor access, monitoring, reporting and institutional coordination.
AIZAWL (India CSR): Mizoram Government, working in the public development and governance sector with UNDP India, has introduced the Mizoram CSR Connect portal to connect corporate CSR contributors with development projects across the state after Mizoram received only 0.06 per cent of India’s total CSR expenditure in 2023–24.
The CSR Matchmaking Portal was inaugurated by Chief Minister Lalduhoma at McCabe Hall on Tuesday. The platform has been developed by the Mizoram CSR Cell under the Planning and Programme Implementation Department in collaboration with UNDP India. UNDP India supports the portal for data-driven CSR planning, sustainable development and transparent development partnerships.
Digital Link for CSR
The portal is designed to act as a digital bridge between companies, implementing agencies and project proponents. It will allow corporates to identify credible projects and support development initiatives in Mizoram through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
The state government said the platform aims to improve coordination, transparency and ease of doing CSR in Mizoram. It is expected to support structured engagement between CSR donors and agencies working on the ground.
Low CSR Share
Lalduhoma said Mizoram received only 0.06 per cent of India’s total CSR expenditure during 2023–24. He said the figure reflected the need for a systematic mechanism to attract greater corporate participation.
The CSR Cell was set up in the Chief Minister’s Office in June 2024 to strengthen engagement with corporates and ensure better utilisation of available CSR opportunities.
“Digital Bridge”
The Chief Minister said the portal would help companies find credible initiatives while ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes.
He highlighted Mizoram’s peaceful environment, high literacy rate, progress on Sustainable Development Goals and low levels of corruption as factors that could support CSR investments in the state.
He invited corporate houses and civil society organisations to partner with Mizoram’s development efforts. He also said CSR funds would be used responsibly with clear social impact.
UNDP Support
Angela Lusigi, Resident Representative of UNDP India, said the portal was a forward-looking initiative with relevance beyond Mizoram. She reiterated UNDP’s support for the state’s development priorities, particularly sustainable development, women’s empowerment and environmental conservation.
She also underlined the importance of data-driven planning and said the platform would help CSR stakeholders make informed decisions.
Institutional Partnerships
Planning and Programme Implementation Department Secretary Lalmalsawma Pachuau delivered the welcome address. TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Mizoram CSR Cell, outlined key CSR opportunities in the state.
The event also saw exchange of memoranda of understanding between the Mizoram Start-Up Mission and participating corporate and institutional partners.
Mizoram, one of India’s most literate, peaceful, and high-HDI northeastern states, continues its impressive journey in 2026. With near-universal literacy, robust economic growth, rich bamboo resources, and strong health indicators, Mizoram remains a standout performer among the Seven Sister States.
