An astronomy lab which is a part of a cosmic classroom in Lunglei district
Aizawl: Mizoram school education minister Vanlalthlana on Wednesday inaugurated the state’s first cosmic classroom at Government Leitlangpui High School, Lunglei, and virtually launched additional cosmic classrooms at Higher Secondary School, Lungsen, and Govt Middle School, Tlabung.The programme, held at the School Education Complex Conference Hall, Lunglei, marked the launch of several key educational initiatives spearheaded by the office of deputy commissioner Lunglei, in collaboration with the district school education department.On the occasion, bicycles were distributed to out-of-school children under the Learning Bridges Programme, book sets under the Book Nest Initiative, and science laboratory equipment to selected schools.In his address, minister Vanlalthlana lauded the joint efforts of the district administration and education department, stating that these initiatives reflect the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the Mizoram gov’s mission of ensuring quality, inclusive and equitable education.Lunglei DC Navneet Mann highlighted that the initiatives form part of a holistic education model integrating science, language, health, financial literacy and life skills.
She underscored the importance of community participation for the sustainability of these programmes.With these launches, Lunglei district becomes the first in Mizoram to establish astronomy labs and pioneer an integrated set of community-driven educational initiatives, ensuring that ‘no child is left behind’ while preparing students to be knowledgeable, confident and responsible citizens.
