Mizoram transport dept issues apology over bus delay
Aizawl: The Mizoram State Transport (MST) department has issued a public apology after one of its buses failed to reach the Sairang Railway Station on the western outskirts of the capital Aizawl city on time on November 1, causing over 40 passengers to miss their scheduled train.
The department has since revised the Aizawl–Sairang bus timetable to prevent a recurrence of the incident.According to the department, the MST bus departed from the Transport Complex at 5 pm but was caught in severe traffic congestion during rush hour, delaying its arrival at the station. As a result, the passengers missed the 7 pm train.A video showing the stranded passengers running toward the platform as the train began to move went viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism. Many viewers blamed the bus driver for allegedly delaying the journey, while others questioned the department’s scheduling.In an official statement, the transport department expressed regret over the incident and clarified that the delay was due to heavy traffic along the route.
