The Telugu Desam Party MLA Kala Venkata Rao said that rural women’s livelihood opportunities were improving with the free bus service scheme, ‘‘Stree Shakti,’‘ which was launched on August 15.
Attending as the chief guest at the ‘‘Stree Shakti’‘ victory public meeting, held in Cheepurupalli of Vizianagaram district, he said that construction workers, vegetable sellers, daily wagers and others were able to earn an income with the introduction of the scheme.
“Earlier, they used to hesitate to travel as they needed to pay almost half their income in transport charges. Now, they are able to save that amount. It will certainly ensure economic activity in villages, as they would be able to spend money on groceries and other requirements,” said Mr. Kala Venkata Rao.
The TDP State Secretary Kimidi Rama Mallik Naidu thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for effectively implementing Super-Six assurances within a year of assuming power in the State. He said that the prompt payment of social security pensions under the NTR Bharosa was helping thousands of elderly people to lead a happy life in rural areas.
