Khagaria: Tension prevailed in Beldaur block headquarters in Khagaria district after five houses were gutted and property worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes on Sunday night.
Bursting of firecrackers is said to be the reason behind the fire.Agitated over the delay in the arrival of fire fighters, local people created a ruckus leading to stone pelting on the fire fighters and setting the vehicle on fire.At least 10 firefighters and a homeguard jawan sustained injuries, who were admitted to the local primary health centre, police said. A homeguard jawan, Santosh Kumar, who sustained serious injuries was referred to the sadar hospital.Beldaur SHO, Pawan Kumar Singh, said a named FIR against 50 people was lodged on the basis of the identification and CCTV footage under various sections of the IPC while 100 unidentified people have been accused in the incident.SP Rakesh Kumar said the situation is now under control.
