Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to announce at least four new projects coming to the State, all in the Orvakal industrial hub in the district, during his public meeting in Kurnool on October 16, BJP State Spokesperson Dr. Vinusha Reddy told The Hindu on Monday (October 13, 2025).

Dr. Vinusha Reddy said a Japan-based semi-conductor manufacturing unit, a EV park, and Reliance will invest in Orvakal industrial hub giving the much-needed impetus for the development of Kurnool and the region.“The announcements are just the beginning of development in the State under the leadership of Mr. Narendra Modi,” Ms. Reddy said.

According to Dr. Vinusha Reddy, Yitoa Micro Technology Limited of Japan along with its joint venture partner IndiChip Semi-Conductors will invest ₹14,000 crore providing 2,000 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs. “The other investment that is coming up in Orvakal industrial hub is EV Park in 1,200 acres of land with an investment of ₹13,000 crore,” she said, adding that this facility will employ more than 11,000 people.

Prime Minister would also launch the Drone City coming up on 300 acres in Orvakal industrial hub and also announce investment of ₹750 crore by Reliance Consumer Products in the hub, she said.

Dr. Vinusha Reddy said Kurnool has lost the opportunity of being the Capital of the State and remained backward for decades. “It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership which had secured three economic corridors to the State and Orvakal node in Hyderabad – Bengaluru corridor is one among them. The State got 11 Central institutions and the national highway network in the State had doubled since 2014,” she said.

On the GST reforms, she said that the slash in tax rate will help people save money and the slash in taxes on items of aspirations like television sets, bikes, real estate, cement and iron, people will come forward to buy leading to increase in production. “This spurs cycle of growth,” she added.

While hailing the steps taken by the Narendra Modi government to fast-track development in the State, Dr. Vinusha Reddy took a dig at the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy government for its lopsided policies which resulted in slow progress of Amaravati capital and Polavaram irrigation project works.

Dr. Vinusha Reddy also criticised the YSRCP and its leader for opposing the State government’s proposal to construct medical colleges under PPP mode. “PPP is not new and Aarogyasri and fee reimbursement are nothing but PPP models introduced by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, father of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Is Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy opposing to his own father’s policies? The government is not going to privatise medical colleges and it is not going to burden the poor,” she said.

On the issue of spurious liquor in the State, the BJP spokesperson said that the mafia is thriving since the past four years and it has roots in the previous government. “Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to be in relevance and is building lies to defame the government,” she alleged.
