Liverpool will face Arsenal in the high-voltage Premier League 2025-26 match at Anfield on Sunday (August 31). Ahead of the match, which is set to kick off at 9 PM IST, star Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has picked Arsenal as favourites for the Premier League title this year.

According to Salah, the North London-based club has a team that has been together for 5-6 years now, and their players understand each other’s game very well.

“That team (Arsenal), I said that a few times today, and also in a PFA award, I said that they are the favourite because they have a team that has been playing together for 5-6 years. So they understand each other’s game, and they had their manager also with the team for 5-6 years. So they… when the team is stuck together for that long, they know each other’s game. So it becomes easier for them. But other teams like us (Liverpool) and Manchester City are changing a lot of players, which is sometimes tricky. But again, like team with Pep Guardiola, they’re always a favourite. But of course, my opinion this year is Arsenal number one," Liverpool told Sky Sports Premier League.

Arsenal, who have won the league 13 times (only behind Liverpool and Manchester United’s tally of 20 each), finished second in each of the last three Premier League seasons. In the new season, they have won two matches played so far.

In their last match, the Gunners scored five goals against Leeds United at Emirates Stadium, and Mikel Arteta’s men would like to come up with a big show against the 2024-25 Premier League champions as well on Sunday to maintain the perfect win record.

On the other hand, Liverpool have also won both their Premier League fixtures. The Reds defeated Bournemouth 4-2 at Anfield in the first game of the new season, and then on Monday (August 25), Liverpool secured a 3-2 win over 10-man Newcastle United at St James’ Park. In that fixture, 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha scored the winner for Arne Slot’s men in the 90+10th minute of the match.
