The leadership of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is set to undergo a crucial shift, with the general body meeting scheduled for June 22, where the next phase of the association's future will be decided.

Now, Jayan Cherthala, vice-president of AMMA’s ad-hoc committee, has revealed to On Manorama that Mohanlal is willing to resume his presidential role—but only if the existing ad-hoc committee is permitted to continue without an election. “Mohanlal said he is not interested in a fresh election. He will only stay if the current team is retained as is. If the general body insists on a new poll, he will step down,” said Jayan, emphasizing that the entire ad-hoc team supports this stance.
A Committee in Crisis and TransitionThe governing council, elected in 2024, was dissolved after the controversy surrounding Siddique and others broke out. In its place, an ad-hoc committee was formed, which now seeks to be confirmed as the permanent body. Earlier Unni Mukundan decided to step down from his role as AMMA treasurer. His Instagram note read, “Dear All, I hope this message finds you well. After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down from my role as the Treasurer (AMMA). I have truly enjoyed my time in this position, and it has been both an exciting and rewarding experience. However, in recent months, the increasing demands of my work, particularly with Marco and other production commitments, have significantly impacted my mental health.
