Malayalam star Mohanlal's latest film 'Thudarum' has been officially selected at the upcoming 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

Expressing pride over the particular milestone, Mohanlal took to his X handle and confirmed the selection."Honoured and delighted to share that #Thudarum is an official selection at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the Indian Panorama category. Thank you for this incredible recognition," he wrote.

'Thudarum' has been selected under the Indian Panorama Section at the film festival, which is scheduled to be held in November.A flagship component of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Indian Panorama selections are the best of contemporary Indian films toward the goal of promoting film art.

Introduced in 1978 to promote Indian films along with the country's rich culture and heritage, Indian Panorama has remained completely devoted to showcasing the best Indian films of the year.Also, the primary aim of the Indian Panorama is to select feature and non-feature films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence for the promotion of film art through the non-profit screening of these films under different categories.

This year, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held from November 20 to 28, 2025, in Goa.Coming to Mohanlal's 'Thudarum', it is considered among the successful Malayalam films of this year. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film's story revolves around a humble taxi driver who treasures his ageing Ambassador car above all. However, when fate shifts, he is led into unexpected twists and troubles.Besides Mohanlal, the film also features Shobana, Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Farhaan Faasil, Thomas Mathew, and Maniyanpilla Raju, among others. The film was a blockbuster at the box office. This minimal budget film earned over Rs 150 crore worldwide. Mohanlal will be next seen in 'Vrusshabha'.Meanwhile Tovino Thomas starrer 'ARM' is also selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama’s Best Debut Director Competition at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, Goa). Director Jithin Laal took to social media to write, "Honoured to share that our film ARM has been officially selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama’s Best Debut Director Competition at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, Goa). Out of the five Indian films chosen, ARM is the only Malayalam film in the competition. We are Grateful and proud to represent Malayalam cinema on this platform."
