In a tragic incident, a woman, troubled by her obesity and weight reaching 90 kg, committed suicide by setting herself on fire. The police have also found a suicide note at the spot in which she wrote, “Mom and Dad, I lost…"
She also asked her brother to take care of her parents.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Salvi Gupta (28), a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur. The family found her half-burnt body of Salvi Gupta (28) on the roof of the house on Wednesday.
Salvi’s brother, Shashank Gupta, informed the police about the incident. Shashank told the police that Salvi went to sleep in her room on the roof after dinner on Tuesday night. She committed suicide by setting herself on fire at night.
The woman was suffering from obesity and thyroid problems. In her suicide note, she wrote, “Papa-Mummy, I have lost… I have lost courage now. You all are taking so much care of me, but I am not getting better. Now I do not want to trouble you all any more. Papa-Mummy, both of you take care of yourselves. Bhaiyya Monu, I love both of you very much. Take care of Mummy-Papa, I love you both so much."
Chief police officer Umesh Singh said that Salvi used to teach at Saraswati Public School located in the town. CO Vineeta Pahal said that according to the family members, the woman was going through mental stress due to obesity. Although the family members were taking full care of her, she suddenly committed suicide.
Children Used To Call Her ‘Moti Teacher’
The students in the school used to call the deceased ‘Moti Teacher’. The teacher had earlier shared these things with the doctor in the hospital. Salvi used to get uncomfortable when children used to call her ‘Moti Teacher’.
District hospital doctor Neeta mentioned that the woman had previously consulted at CHC Maudha, where she weighed 90 kg and had thyroid issues. To tackle obesity, seeking a dietitian’s advice is recommended. Managing stress and depression involves prioritising good sleep, a balanced diet, and engaging in enjoyable activities. Getting 6-8 hours of sleep is crucial, as sleep disorders can exacerbate stress. Regular yoga and meditation can also be beneficial.
