A man from Uttarakhand was among those injured in the powerful car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, that has left the nation in shock. The blast, which took place on Monday evening, has so far claimed 12 lives, with several others battling injuries in hospitals.
Harshul Setia, a resident of Gadarpur in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district, had travelled to Delhi with his family for wedding shopping. His mother Anju Setia, fiancee Shivali, and younger brother Gaurav were with him when tragedy struck. Around 6:30 pm, while the family was returning from Chandni Chowk to Noida, their car was caught in the explosion.
The vehicle was severely damaged, and Harshul sustained a head injury. He was rushed to Jan Nayak JP Hospital and discharged after about 20 hours of treatment. After learning about the incident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally spoke to Harshul’s father, Sanjeev Setia, and assured all possible assistance to the family.
Officials confirmed that most of the deceased in the Red Fort blast are residents of Uttar Pradesh. The explosion, which rocked the area near the historic monument, has triggered one of the biggest security investigations in recent years.
In a major breakthrough, security agencies arrested several doctors from Faridabad shortly before the blast. During searches, authorities reportedly recovered thousands of kgs of explosives and a cache of weapons.
Investigations have now widened to include Al-Falah University, located in Dhauj village of Haryana’s Faridabad district. The sprawling 76-acre campus has come under scrutiny after the arrest of three doctors linked to what officials are calling a “white-collar terror module".
According to preliminary findings, a network of highly educated individuals may have been operating under the guidance of ‘Pakistan-supported handlers’. Investigators are now probing how the university allegedly became a hub for radical activities.
