COIMBATORE: More than 150 students, along with their parents, took part in a student grievance redressal meeting conducted at the Coimbatore district collectorate on Friday. As many as 55 petitions regarding bank loans, certificates, scholarships and NEET training programmes were represented during the meeting.District collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar convened the redressal meeting for students who cleared classes X, XI and XII board examinations.In his address, the collector said, “This is aimed at achieving a 100% higher education enrollment rate. Earlier, career guidance programmes were organised during the month of May for those who have passed their Class XII exam. There are nearly 175 colleges in the district that cover all streams of arts, engineering, medical and law, but not many are aware of the details.”He said a handbook released during the ‘Kalloori Kanavu’ programme provided detailed information on colleges and courses available, duration of courses, eligibility, total number of seats and other significant details. “The details are available in copy as well,” he said.The collector said not many students are aware of the Allied Health Science course available and that it has a lot of opportunities. However, to pursue that course, the students should have cleared a science major in Class XII board examination. He advised them to have a vision of the placements and career opportunities ahead of graduation.
