Electric vehicles are gaining wider acceptance in India, with an increasing number of buyers considering them as primary cars rather than secondary options. Improved model availability, greater awareness and lower operating costs have supported this transition.
EVs continue to offer lower running and maintenance expenses compared to petrol and diesel vehicles, making them suitable for daily urban use. Buyers driving mainly within city limits stand to benefit from reduced fuel costs over time. While public charging infrastructure is still developing and remains limited in several areas, access to home or workplace charging improves overall convenience. MG Comet First car on the list is the MG Comet EV, priced from Rs 4.99 lakh Battery-as-a-Service at Rs 2.5 per kilometre, Rs 7.59 lakh with battery (both prices ex-showroom). The MG Comet is powered by a 17.3kWh battery pack paired to a single electric motor, which puts out 42hp of power and 110Nm of torque, which sends power to the rear wheels.
The battery is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance and gets an ARAI-certified range of 230km.
Feature highlights include dual 10.25-inch screens - one for infotainment and another for instrumentation, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected car tech, manual AC, rotary drive selector, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls, over 55 connected car features and more. Safety-wise, it gets ABS, EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse camera and sensors, dual front airbags, electronic parking brake, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, all four disc brakes, and hill-hold assist.

Tata Tiago EV Second is the Tata Tiago EV, priced from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tiago EV gets two battery pack options - a 19.2kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor which puts out 61hp and 110Nm, it has a claimed range of 250 Km. Another battery pack is the bigger 24kWh pack paired with an electric motor, which puts out 74hp and 114Nm; it has a claimed range of 315 km. Features include a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED headlights, digital instrument cluster, twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and much more.
Tata Punch EVNext is the recently launched Tata Punch EV facelift. The prices for the new Punch EV facelift start from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with BaaS and battery EMI starting from Rs 2.6/km. Prices for non BaaS variants start from Rs 9.69 lakh and goes upto Rs 12.59 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). It gets two options: 30 kWh and 40 kWh. The larger battery pack has an ARAI-certified range of 468km on a single charge and a C75 real-world range of 355km.
It also supports 65kW DC fast charging, enabling a 20 to 80 per cent charge in 26 minutes and adding up to 135km of range in 15 minutes.Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Next is the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara priced from Rs 10.99 lakh with BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service option) plus battery EMI @ Rs 3.99 per km. Prices with battery start from Rs 15.99 lakh and goes upto Rs 20.01 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara competes with the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Vinfast VF6 and upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.The e-Vitara is offered in two battery pack options - 49kWh and 61kWh. The batteries use LFP (Lithium Iron-phosphate) ‘blade’ cells sourced by BYD. The 49kWh battery will come paired with a single motor placed on the front axle, which puts out 144hp. The bigger 61kWh battery also gets single-motor, but here it puts out 174hp. Both motors produce identical 189Nm of torque. Talking about range, the EV has a claimed range of 440 km with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the larger 61 kWh version is rated at 543 km on a single charge.

MG Windsor EVNext is the MG Windsor EV priced from Rs 9.99 lakh with BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service option) plus battery EMI @ Rs 3.9 per km. Prices with battery start from Rs 13.99 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The Windsor is offered in two battery pack options - a 38 kWh battery pack with 332 km claimed range and a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 449 km. Power output remains consistent across the range, with a 136 hp motor pushing out 200 Nm of torque.
Charging options range from a 7.4kW AC home charger, which takes about 9.5 hours for a full recharge, to a 60kW DC fast charger that can boost the battery from 20% to 80% in approximately 50 minutes.Tata Tigor EV Next is the Tata Tigor EV priced at Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tigor is powered by a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with an e-motor, which produces 75 bhp and 170Nm of torque. It has a claimed range of 315 km.
Features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, 4 speakers with 4 tweeters, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera and more.
Tata Nexon EVNext is the Tata Nexon EV, priced from Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon EV can be had with 30 kWh and 45 kWh battery packs.
Powering both variants is a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 145 hp and 215 nm. The 38kWh version offers an ARAI-certified range of 325km, while the 45kWh version provides a range of 489km on a full charge.In terms of features, the Nexon EV gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, auto climate control, 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, air purifier, fast charging type-C ports, single-pane sunroof, JBL-branded sound system, voice commands, OTA updates, and Arcade.
EV app suite, Level 2 ADAS and much more.Citroen eC3 Next is Citroen eC3 electric priced from Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The eC3 comes with a single 29.2 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 246 km on a full charge. The e-motor produces 57 hp and 143 Nm of torque. Features include a 10.2-inch infotainment system, four-speaker audio system, connected car tech, LED DRLs and much more.
