Mother of 4 killed in Mizoram domestic assault, husband held

Aizawl: In a disturbing case of domestic violence, a 45-year-old man has been arrested in northern Aizawl for allegedly murdering his 31-year-old wife, said a senior police officer on Tuesday.The officer said Bawngkawn police received information at around 10am on Sunday that the body of H Lalromawii was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence in the Falkland locality. A police team with forensic experts from the forensic science laboratory rushed to the scene.Following a thorough examination, authorities concluded that it was a case of homicide, leading to the immediate arrest of the victim’s husband identified as Zothanpuia.Lalromawii had sustained multiple injuries, including a severe head wound believed to have been inflicted by a blunt weapon or club, along with bruises across various parts of her body. Police officials said Zothanpuia confessed to the murder during interrogation. A woman residing near the couple’s home was also picked up for questioning.Zothanpuia and Lalromawii are parents to four children. After a post-mortem was conducted at the civil hospital in Aizawl, Lalromawii’s body was taken to her native village of Kawlbem in Champhai district, near the Myanmar border, for burial on Monday.
