In a heart-wrenching scene at Guntur Collectorate in Andhra Pradesh, an eight-year-old boy named Yashwanth approached District Collector Nagalakshmi with an emotional plea: “My mother wants us all to die... that’s why I came here.”
Yashwanth had come to submit a petition, requesting permission to set up a small tiffin cart, the only source of income for his family.
His mother, Alaval Radhika, a resident of Venkatrao Peta in Guntur city, earlier ran a tiffin cart near the government hospital. But the cart was removed during road expansion work, allegedly without providing an alternative space.
Despite multiple appeals to municipal officials, Radhika was unable to secure permission to set up her cart elsewhere. Yashwanth told the Collector that authorities had even thrown their cart into a canal, pushing the family into a severe financial crisis. He also shared that his mother, in deep despair over the situation, had expressed thoughts of ending her life.
Yashwanth, who suffers from a heart condition, pleaded, “We just want to set up our tiffin cart again please help us survive.”
Collector Nagalakshmi, moved by the boy’s courage, accepted the petition and promptly directed municipal corporation officials to urgently resolve the issue and help the family with a livelihood option.
