In a disturbing incident from Satna, an 11-year-old boy was found dead inside a blue drum at his home. The case came to light in Bank Colony under the Kolgawan police station limits after officers broke into the locked house.

Police said the body was discovered after signs of violence were found inside the residence. Bloodstains were first noticed on a pillow, following which a search led to the recovery of the child’s body hidden in the drum around 3 p.m.

What we know about the killing?

According to officials, the incident took place when the boy was alone at home. Additional Superintendent of Police Shivesh Singh Baghel said the boy’s mother, Asha Rajak, returned home around 12:30 pm and found the house locked from the outside.

Unable to locate her son after searching nearby areas, she alerted neighbours and informed the police. Officers then forced open the door and began a search inside the house, leading to the grim discovery.

Laundry worker under suspicion

Police suspect a 45-year-old man, identified as Mathura Rajak, in connection with the killing. He runs a laundry shop in the same colony and is currently absconding. His shop has been found shut, and his mobile phone is also switched off.

Officials said the child was allegedly killed by having his throat slit with a sickle. A search operation has been launched to trace the suspect.

Dispute with family cited as possible motive

Family members told police that the suspect had an ongoing dispute with the boy’s father, Ramesh Rajak, who works in Maharashtra. They alleged that Mathura had earlier issued threats following the disagreement.

The family also claimed that the accused had been harassing Asha in her husband’s absence. Around 10 days before the incident, there had been a confrontation between the two sides, which may have escalated tensions.

Case registered, probe underway

Police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are continuing their search for the accused and examining all possible angles.

Authorities are also collecting evidence from the crime scene and speaking to neighbours to piece together the sequence of events.
