MP Doctor Suspended Over WhatsApp Status Celebrating Transfer, Dig At MLA

Amid Madhya Pradesh’s ongoing transfer drive, a controversy has erupted in the health department after a female doctor in Rajgarh district, Dr Akanksha Singh, posted a WhatsApp status that reportedly made a veiled reference to BJP MLA Amar Singh Yadav. The status update went viral, prompting the MLA to write to the Health Commissioner. The department acted swiftly, suspending Dr Singh with immediate effect and reassigning her to Khargone as her new headquarters.

Dr Akanksha Singh had been posted at the District Hospital Rajgarh for several years. During her tenure, BJP MLA Amar Singh Yadav complained to the Chief Minister and Health Commissioner about irregularities in her duty.

Recently, amid the transfer season, Dr Singh arranged her transfer to the District Hospital Neemuch allegedly at her own expense and joined the new post. However, her subsequent WhatsApp status proved to be problematic. The status was deemed indiscipline, leading to her suspension by the state Health Commissioner.

On May 27, after her transfer, Dr Akanksha Singh posted on her WhatsApp status: “Remember, at your own expense and at your desired place…Note: The respectable person who had written on the letterhead with great enthusiasm that I should be transferred, should pick up his application from the dustbin, it is still lying there."

Following this post, a complaint was filed with the Health Commissioner, resulting in her immediate suspension under Rule-3 of MP Civil Services Rules-1966. Her conduct was found to be against the official duties of government servants.

After the suspension, MLA Amar Singh Yadav stated that he had informed the officials about the incidents at Rajgarh District Hospital and affirmed that suspension action was taken promptly. “I will not tolerate any incidents in the area that could affect the lives of common citizens," he emphasised.
