MP horror: Man beheaded by cousin over allege affair; victim's brother critical injured

BHOPAL: A 28-year-old man was attacked, shot dead, and then beheaded late Tuesday night in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.The incident took place in Neemkheda village, under Malthone police station in Bina tehsil. The deceased has been identified as Shubham Dangi, a resident of the same village.According to police, Shubham was allegedly murdered by his cousin Surendra Singh Dangi (45), who suspected him of having an illicit relationship with his wife. Acting on this suspicion, Surendra, along with his two sons, a woman, and another man, attacked Shubham near his house.Police said the assailants first beat Shubham with sticks and rods before Surendra allegedly shot him. Even after he fell to the ground, the attackers reportedly severed his head using a sharp weapon, leaving the body mutilated at the scene.Locals informed police after discovering the body lying in a pool of blood on the outskirts of Neemkheda. During the attack, Shubham’s brother, Ranveer Dangi, rushed to the spot to rescue him. The accused opened fire on Ranveer as well, and a bullet pierced his stomach. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later referred to a higher medical centre.Senior officers reached the crime scene with a police team.

Shubham’s body was sent for post-mortem examination under tight security. A murder case has been registered against Surendra Singh Dangi and four others under relevant sections.“The accused murdered his cousin over a family dispute. We have registered a case of murder and illegal use of arms. Teams have been dispatched to arrest the absconding accused,” said a police officer.Investigators said the motive was suspicion of an illicit relationship. Surendra Singh had previously lodged a missing person complaint for his wife in August and later began suspecting she had an affair with Shubham. The suspicion escalated into open hostility, culminating in Tuesday night’s murder.Police have sealed off parts of the village and are conducting searches for the accused, who fled the scene. Forensic teams collected blood samples and empty cartridges as part of the investigation.
