MP youth critically injured after lighting firecracker in his mouth for social media stunt

JHABUA: A youngster was critically injured after intentionally placing a firecracker (sutli bomb) in his mouth and lighting it. The explosion severely burned and mutilated his face.The incident occurred in Jhabua district's Bachikheda village whereAccording to witnesses, the young man was allegedly attempting to replicate or start a new social media trend when the accident happened. Witnesses reported that the youngster was continuously setting off small firecrackers in his mouth. When he placed the eighth firecracker, a bigger sutli bomb, in his mouth and ignited it, it detonated with a powerful blast, leaving his face severely injured and bloody.

People nearby immediately rushed him to the hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical."The victim has been identified as an 18-year-old youngster, Rohit Solanki," Jhabua SP Shiv Dayal Singh told TOI, adding that he met the accident while performing the 'stunt' for social media. "The victim has been admitted to the hospital, where a surgery is planned," he said, adding that his condition was stable.

"We are exploring legal ways, if any case of negligence or other to be lodged against Solanki," he said.The incident has sparked anger and disbelief among local residents, who condemned the act as extreme recklessness. They said that today's youth are risking their lives just to become 'heroes' on social media, highlighting the dangerous lengths some go to for online attention.
