Once you’ve been a teacher at heart, you remain one forever

Mridula Oberoi reflects on her deep connection to education, stemming from her upbringing with teacher parents and her own decade-long experience as an educator.

Actress Mridula Oberoi, who has appeared in films like Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Love Aaj Kal 2, and Sukhee, and is known for her roles in television dramas such as Kumkum Bhagya, Bhagya Laxmi, Yeh Hai Chahatein, Naagin 6, and Appnapan – Badalte Rishton Ka Bandhan, reflected on her long-standing connection with education on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.“A major part of my life has been beautifully intertwined with education. Born to teacher parents, I grew up seeing the value of knowledge, discipline, and compassion from the very beginning. First, as a child to two incredible teachers, then as a student, and later dedicating more than a decade of my own life as an educationist — teaching has always been my strongest foundation,” she shared. For Mridula, education goes beyond profession. “Education, to me, is not just a profession or a phase of life.

It runs in my blood, it shapes my existence, and it truly defines me.” Her years around children have left a lasting impression. “Being around children has always been my source of energy and joy. Their innocence, curiosity, and eagerness to learn have left a permanent imprint on my heart and soul. That bond taught me sincerity, consistency, punctuality, and the balance of working both hard and smart.” Even with her acting career, Mridula says she carries forward the same grounding.

“No matter where my professional journey takes me — whether in front of the camera or beyond — education and intellect remain my guiding lights. They are values I carry forward into every new chapter of life.”

On Teachers’ Day, she summed up her gratitude: “I bow my head in gratitude — to my parents, my mentors, my students, and to the timeless spirit of teaching itself. Because being a teacher is not just about imparting knowledge, it is about shaping lives. And once you’ve been a teacher at heart, you remain one forever.”
