Bicholim: Mulgao gram sabha has issued a 15-day ultimatum to govt to address their demands regarding Vedanta’s mining activities. A meeting is scheduled on Nov 8.Local resident Vasant Gad said a memorandum listing 15 demands was submitted to the deputy collector and mining company.
The gram sabha warned the govt would be responsible if ignored.“We have not benefitted from the mining,” said Lad, citing affected agriculture, lost jobs, and ore transport disrupting life. He urged govt to halt ore transport in the area, protect homes, farms, and religious sites inlcuded in the leases and create a buffer zone as per the Regional Plan 2021.“If govt ignores our demands; we will decide who to vote for in the upcoming elections accordingly,” he added.
