 Wall collapses at Bandra East construction site; One woman critical, another injured

MUMBAI: A 25-year-old woman was critically injured and another woman sustained minor injuries after a wall from an under-construction building collapsed onto an adjoining room in a chawl late Monday night in Bandra East.The incident occurred at the Indira Krupa Housing Society, near Tarina School, around 11.34 pm on June 16. According to civic officials, a portion of the wall gave way and crashed into a neighbouring residential structure, catching the occupants completely off guard.The injured have been identified as Komal Yewle, 25, who is in critical condition, and Pranita Yewle, 28, who has been declared stable. Both were rushed to Gurunanak Hospital for medical treatment.The Mumbai Fire Brigade, police personnel, an ambulance from the 108 service, and staff from the local BMC ward office were quickly mobilised to the spot following an alert from the police control room. Rescue operations were completed late into the night.Local residents expressed concerns about the safety of living adjacent to ongoing construction works, especially during the monsoon.
