A monorail in Mumbai's eastern suburbs came to a halt on Tuesday evening amid heavy rainfall in the city due to a technical snag and power outage amidst incessant rainfall. The incident occurred around 6:15 pm, halting services between Chembur and Bhakti Park, and later Wadala and Chembur. Rescue operations commenced immediately, with cranes and snorkel vehicles deployed by BMC, Police, and MMRD officials to extract passengers. While officials initially stated all passengers were safe with no casualties or injuries, reports from the ground indicated many passengers remained inside.
