MUMBAI: Heavy rain lashed Mumbai early Wednesday morning, bringing the city to a crawl once again. As per news agency ANI, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy skies throughout the day with a likelihood of moderate rain or thunderstorms in some areas.Commuters were severely impacted during the morning rush hour. One of the most affected zones was the Andheri subway, which was shut down due to waterlogging.
According to the IMD, the rain was caused by a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to enhance rainfall activity over Maharashtra’s coastal belt, including Mumbai and its surrounding areas. The IMD has not issued a red alert for the city yet but advised caution, particularly for those commuting during evening hours.
Moderate showers are likely to continue through the day with the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in some pockets.(With agency inputs)
