 Vidaarth

Mynaa is like an identity to me. I’m still the same as I was back then. Being an actor isn’t something that’s set in my mind. That’s why success or failure doesn’t affect me, says Vidaarth.

For Vidaarth, acting has always been about the craft and not the fame that comes with it. In an interview with us, the actor talks about his next release, Marutham , his favourite artistes, his perspective on the audiences today and more…‘I admire the way Ajith sir respects others’Speaking about the artistes he likes and admires, Vidaarth says, “I’ve admired Vijayakanth sir since I was in school.

The way Ajith Sir respects others is something I admire. Even now, when I go to his home, he will come to the road to see me off. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also my favourite, as there is a graph to his acting, while the late Irrfan Khan sir was an actor who portrayed emotions onscreen very well and differently.

Alia Bhatt is someone I want to meet in person.”‘I’m still the same as I was when I did Mynaa’Mynaa is like an identity to me. I’m still the same as I was back then. Being an actor isn’t something that’s set in my mind.

That’s why success or failure doesn’t affect me. If my target was to become a star, maybe I would have been affected. But my focus has always been to become an actor. If you look at my filmography, there are a lot of good films. Some of my good films may have failed, but all I want is to do my job well. If I don’t perform well, then I will be unhappy.‘I DON’T COMPARE MYSELF WITH OTHER ACTORS’Even the smallest role is important in a film. After Mynaa , I did Veeram , where I played Ajith sir’s brother.

I don’t think that I should only do lead roles. I did Veeram because I like Ajith sir a lot. I made use of the opportunity to meet and travel with him. I don’t compare myself with other actors in terms of success or talent.‘I WANT TO DO A PROPER ACTION FILM’I believe we can make a film without logic because, at the end of the day, it’s all imagination. There’s not just one way to make a film. But, when you try to incorporate commercial elements into a realistic story, therein lies the issue.

As an artiste, I have to do all kinds of films, yet I’ve mostly done realistic films because those are the kinds of scripts that I’m getting offered. I want to do a fantasy, a comedy, a masala and a proper action film.‘AUDIENCES GAUGE WHETHER A FILM WOULD BE GOOD OR NOT FROM A POSTER’These days, OTT platforms are ready to buy a film only if it does well in theatres. But someone should be ready to invest in small-budget films. If they don’t get returns for the money invested in a small film, they develop a mindset to not invest in such films anymore.

People should be ready to support good films, especially the small ones. Only then will more such films be made. These days, audiences gauge whether a film would be good or not from a poster design.‘I WATCHED TOURIST FAMILY THREE TIMES IN THE THEATRE’I hear that a film is good; I always watch it in the theatre. I watched Tourist Family three times. If I don’t watch those films, how can I tell others to watch them? Also, when I watch a film in the theatre, I don’t think, ‘What if I did that role?’ I the challenges faced by farmers.

It’s based on several true incidents. Rakshana, who acted in Margazhi Thingal , is the female lead. Lollu Sabha Maaran is also part of the film, and he has been a big support.

Also, I’m doing a web series called Kuttram Purindhavan with Pasupathy anna . There’s another series I’m working on with Sathyaraj sir, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan, and many others. enjoy it like a normal moviegoer. I laugh out loud at comedy. My wife tells me that I don’t watch movies like an actor.ON HIS UPCOMING PROJECTS…My next release is Marutham , which addresses
