A month after photo of a French “detective" outside the Louvre Museum after jewel heist went viral, the person has finally been unmasked – 15-year-old boy.

According to New York Post, Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux, a k a “Fedora Man," sparked a frenzy when he was snapped wearing his brown hat at the perfect jaunty angle, a fashionable vest and classy tie while wielding a wooden-handled umbrella — and a knowing look — as he stood by cops guarding an entrance at the world-famous Parisian art mecca October 19, just after the wild theft.

Later in an interview with Associated Press, Delvaux said: “I didn’t want to say immediately it was me. With this photo, there is a mystery, so you have to make it last."

A fan of Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot who lives with his parents and grandfather in Rambouillet, 30 kilometres from Paris, he said he was visiting the museum with his parents and didn’t know about the robbery. It was at the time his photo was taken by French photographer Thibault Camus.

According to NY Post, his full get-up includes a Yves Saint Laurent waistcoat borrowed from his father, jacket, a tie, Tommy Hilfiger trousers and a restored Russian watch. He pointed out that he only wears the fedora on weekends, holidays, and museum trips.

“People said, ‘You’ve become a star,’ " Delvaux said. “I was astonished that just with one photo you can become viral in a few days."

He further said that initially he hide his identity to avoid any unwanted attention. After several days, Delvaux said he changed his accounts back to the public.

“Then journalists came, and I told them my age. They were extremely surprised," he said.
