Animal rights activists gathered near Town Hall in Mysuru on Saturday to stage a demonstration against the alleged exploitation of animals in various industries.

The activists sought to highlight the “harsh realities of animal exploitation in dairy, meat, egg, clothing, entertainment, and other industries” through the demonstration titled ‘Face the Truth’.

“This event is aimed to raise awareness about the inherent value and sentience of animals, emphasising that they are individuals, not commodities or products,” said a statement issued by the organisers.

The event featured activists holding placards and banners with messages. “The visual representation sparked meaningful interactions with the public, encouraging them to reconsider their perception of animals and join the movement for animal rights,” said the statement.

“We have no right to exploit animals for food, clothing, entertainment, or research,” said Anurag, one of the organisers. “Animals are sentient beings who feel pain, joy, and fear just like us,” he added.

Mahesh, another activist, stated that there can be no excuse for animal abuse. “Today, we have alternatives like soy milk, cashew milk, mock meat, tofu, and more, making exploitation unnecessary,” he said.
