Mysuru Association of Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Clinics and Diagnostic Centres (MAHAN) have announced that a series of free health camps will be held across 15 to 20 different locations in the city on Friday, November 14, to mark World Diabetes Day.
Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Wednesday, November 12, Dr. K Javeed Nayeem, past president of MAHAN, said the health camps seek to create awareness about diabetes prevention among the community at the grassroots level.
He has appealed to the general public to attend the camps, which are expected to start functioning at 7 a.m. at different locations in the city on November 14.
According to a press statement issued by MAHAN President G.R. Chandrashekar, MAHAN has taken this step to encourage citizens to undergo diabetes screening and understand the importance of lifestyle modifications and medical follow-ups in preventing long-term complications.
The camps will be set up in various key areas of the city including Kukkarahalli lake, where the inaugural event will take place. Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy will be the chief guest at the occasion while District Health Officer Dr. Kumaraswamy will also be present as a guest of honour.
“Through this campaign, MAHAN seeks to bring healthcare closer to the people, ensuring that early signs of diabetes are identified and managed before they lead to severe health issues. The initiative also aims to create awareness among the general public about maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, and routine health checkups as part of preventive healthcare,” the statement added.
