Nearly 3,500 pourakarmikas of the city received monthly ration kit from Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar here on Wednesday.

The ration kit was distributed to mark the 141st birth anniversary of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, who ruled Mysuru from 1902 to 1940 and laid the foundation for a model State.

Mr. Yaduveer said he drew inspiration from Krishnaraja Wadiyar who worked tirelessly for the people. The MP said this was a meaningful way of celebrating the anniversary of Krishnaraja Wadiyar as he focused on public welfare. He extolled the role of pourakarmikas in keeping the city clean, and said that the credit for Mysuru being among the cleanest city went to pourakarmikas alone.

Earlier, the MP told mediapersons that it was a non-political event and an occasion to recall the contribution of Krishnaraja Wadiyar for the development of Mysuru and the State.

He said while June 4 marked the birth anniversary of Krishnaraja Wadiyar, it was also on this day in 2024 that he became an MP and entered public service. Mr. Yaduveer said public welfare was his focus and that he had taken up many issues in the last one year and would initiate more projects in the years ahead.
