JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the JSS Medical College here.
The partnership aims to promote joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programmes, innovation-driven collaborations, and capacity-building efforts in emerging areas of healthcare technologies, artificial intelligence, biomedical innovation, and interdisciplinary education.
The MoU signing event began with a welcome address by Vishal Kumar Gupta, dean (Academics), JSS AHER, followed by opening remarks from B. Suresh, pro-chancellor, JSS AHER, who emphasised on the importance of such collaborative efforts to achieve greater outcomes.
H. Basavana Gowdappa, vice-chancellor, JSS AHER, highlighted the significance of the collaboration in strengthening institutional capabilities and global outreach.
Representing VIT Chennai, T. Thyagarajan, pro vice-chancellor, emphasised the institute’s commitment to advancing joint innovations and translational research. He was accompanied by Ganesan R., deputy director, Career Development Centre; Suchetha M., director, Centre for Healthcare Advancement Innovation and Research; and Shridevi S., deputy director, Centre for Neuroinformatics.
This was followed by the formal signing of the MoU in the presence of the university and institute officials.
“The collaboration marks a significant step towards bridging academia, research, and industry interfaces between two leading institutions. By leveraging JSS AHER’s strengths in health sciences and VIT’s expertise in engineering and technology, the partnership is set to catalyse cutting-edge innovation, joint publications, industry linkages, and incubation of high-impact solutions for societal benefit,” a press release said.
