Dimapur: Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Wednesday strongly condemned recent racial and physical attacks on women from the northeastern states outside the region, including a disturbing incident involving a woman from Nagaland. The federation expressed solidarity with the victims and all women from the region who have faced humiliation, intimidation, and violence. Highlighting the case of a young doctor from Nagaland at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Gorakhpur — where she was allegedly stalked, subjected to obscene remarks, racial slurs, and physical intimidation — the NSF said the incident is a stark reminder of the persistent prejudice faced by northeastern citizens. It also pointed to the reported harassment of three young women from Arunachal Pradesh in New Delhi, describing it as further evidence of a disturbing pattern of racial discrimination. While acknowledging the condemnations expressed by various quarters and authorities, the NSF stressed that “condemnation alone is not enough”. It demanded stern and exemplary action against all culprits involved. The federation urged law enforcement agencies to ensure immediate arrests, impartial and time-bound investigations, and strict punishment under the law. Any leniency, it warned, would embolden perpetrators and perpetuate racism and gender-based violence.
