Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association of India (BDMAI) members submitted a representation to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the inauguration of an MSME Park at Kanigiri constituency in Prakasam district on Tuesday.
In the representation, BDMAI joint secretary Ramachandra Reddy Yeluri requested the allocation of suitable land within the MSME Park for bulk drug manufacturers. He highlighted the challenges being faced by the MSME units in the bulk drug sector.
Speaking to The Hindu, he said, “The MSMEs in bulk drug manufacturing find it difficult to acquire suitable land for establishing new facilities or expanding the existing ones due to the high costs in existing bulk drug parks.”
“If the State government allocates at least 1,000 acres of land in the MSME Park, which has more than 8,000 acres, the bulk drug manufacturing companies will be able to employ thousands of local people,” the BDMAI member said.
According to Mr. Ramachandra Reddy, the Chief Minister has assured all possible support for the promotion and growth of the bulk drug industry in Andhra Pradesh. He also advised the BDMAI committee members to meet him soon for further discussions on developing dedicated bulk drug parks for MSME units.
