BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Friday disputed expelled AIADMK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan’s claim that the BJP (national leadership) had invited him to unite the different factions of the AIADMK.

Mr Nagenthran told journalists in Tiruppur Mr Sengottaiyan had not disclosed anything to him about reuniting factions led by those expelled from the AIADMK. He said he suspected the ruling DMK was behind Mr Sengottaiyan’s claim.

He also said there was no clarity in Mr Sengottaiyan’s statements. “I cannot comment on the issue, lest it should be construed wrongly,” he said at Kangayam district after taking part in Vande Mataram recitation function at a school in Thottipalayam.

Referring to the BJP as the largest political party at the “global level”, the BJP leader took a dig at actor and president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Vijay over his purported statement that his party’s main fight would be with the DMK. “He (Vijay) is not even a ward councillor,” Mr Nagenthran quipped.
