India's first Formula 1 racer Narain Karthikeyan was invited as the chief guest at the recently held Sports Film Festival in Chennai. Following the event, he interacted with the media, where questions were raised about his association with actor Ajith Kumar's racing team and Ajith's long-term vision for motorsport. Narain Karthikeyan shares a long friendship with Ajith as both know each other for more than two decades, and the former shared insights into the South actor's racing passion and dedication.
Narain Karthikeyan on Ajith's dedication to motorsports
Speaking about Ajith, Narain Karthikeyan said, “I’ve known Ajith for 25 years, and his interest in racing has always been immense. At this stage, his primary goal is to bring together and strengthen an Indian racing team. He has already taken the first step in that direction, and I am sure he will continue to progress with further steps.” His statement highlighted Ajith’s dedication to elevating motorsports in India, going beyond a personal passion.
Narain Karthikeyan prefers Ajith for 'F1'
When asked about the possibility of a Tamil remake of the recently released Hollywood film 'F1,' which received global acclaim, Narain was quick to say, “Without a doubt, Ajith would be the perfect choice. Even at the age of 50, he continues to participate in several races with the same enthusiasm.” This response reflected both his admiration for Ajith’s determination and the actor’s suitability to portray such a high-octane character on screen.
Ajith's desire to do a film on motor racing
It is also worth noting that during a car racing event in France last July, Ajith himself was asked a similar question about appearing in an F1-related film. Ajith had smiled and replied, “If I get the opportunity to act in the next installment of 'Fast and Furious' or an 'F1' film, I certainly won’t say no.” His playful yet open-ended response, combined with Narain’s recent endorsement, has further fueled fans’ excitement about Ajith possibly blending his passion for racing with his cinematic career in the future.
