Nashik: Trimbakeshwar town and Nashik city will be carefully carved into tightly controlled, self-contained sectors during Simhastha Kumbh Mela’s most critical window — the two days before, the day of and the day after the revered Amrit Snan — to ensuring safety amid the spiritual fervour, officials said on Saturday.Kumbh Mela Authority commissioner Shekhar Singh unveiled a meticulously orchestrated plan where every pilgrim’s journey would be mapped with precision — from arrival to ritual bath and safe return. “These sectors will be fully functioning corridors of movement, each governed by a single authority responsible for the safety of thousands passing through. We are designing a system where every pilgrim enters, moves and exits through a clearly defined route.

From outer parking zones to inner transit points, and finally to the ghats of the Godavari, every step will be monitored and managed,” he said.During the peak periods, movement between sectors will come to a complete halt. “The will be done because the narrow and heavily congested stretches of Ramkund in Nashik and Kushavarta Teerth in Trimbakeshwar simply cannot withstand chaotic surges of massive crowds converging at once.

In such constrained spaces, even a moment of disorder can become dangerous,” Singh said.Under the plan, private vehicles will be halted at designated outer parking zones, forming the first layer of control. From there, pilgrims will rely on state-managed transport to reach inner drop-off points before undertaking a final 3km walk toward the sacred ghats. The journey, though longer, is designed to dilute pressure and streamline flow.“Each sector will function like a self-sufficient hub — equipped not just with routes, but with essential infrastructure. Holding areas will act as buffers in case of sudden disruptions like heavy rainfall, while medical facilities, food centres and sanitation services will ensure the needs of pilgrims are met without strain. The goal is simple yet immense. Every pilgrim must feel safe, even in the largest gathering on earth.

We will tighten or relax restrictions depending on real-time conditions,” a senior official said.Yet, even amid these stringent controls, a balance is promised. Outside the peak Amrit Snan days, the vibrant townships of Nashik and Trimbakeshwar would remain open and accessible, allowing devotees to move freely and soak in the spiritual atmosphere, the officials said.
