BITS Pilani professor Sanket Goel and IIT-H’s Vineeth N. Balasubramanian received the National Award to Teachers (NAT), in recognition of excellence in teaching, innovation, outreach and research, from President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Friday.
They are among the 45 teachers who had received the awards across the country.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also present. Earlier, the award winners met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Goel heads the Micro/Nano Materials and Nanoelectronics (MMNE) lab in BITS-Pilani, guiding research on lab-on-a-chip systems, biosensors, flexible electronics and microfluidics.
Mr. Balasubramanian’s research covers explainable AI, robust machine learning and multimodal vision-language models, applied in agriculture, drone imaging, autonomous navigation and behavioural AI, said a press release.
