The second national conference of gynaec surgeons, SOVSICON-25, will be held in Thrissur from Friday to Sunday. The event is being organised by the Kerala chapter of the Society of Vaginal Surgeons of India (SOVSI), an organisation of specialists in vaginal surgery.
The three-day conference will take place at the Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute and the Lulu Convention Centre, Puzhakkal. The event is expected to bring together around 500 doctors from across India and abroad, along with over 300 postgraduate medical students from various medical colleges across the country.
As part of the event, hands-on workshops on vaginal surgery and cosmetic gynaecology will be conducted at the Jubilee Mission Medical College led by doctors V. P. Paily and Deepa Ganesh.
“The workshops aim to equip doctors to tackle complex issues in gynaecology and introduce them to the latest treatment techniques,” said Reena N. R., SOVSI Kerala president.
The conference will be formally inaugurated on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the convention centre by justice Devan Ramachandran of the Kerala High Court. Mr. Paily, SOVSI national president, will preside over the function. Veteran gynaec surgeons H. P. Patnaik, P. C. Mahapatra and Rajendra Saraogi will be felicitated at the event.
The SOVSI national council meeting will be held on Sunday. Over the three days, around 50 scientific papers will be presented, alongside discussions on various gynaecological topics. Postgraduate students will present research posters, with awards for the best entries. The event will also feature cultural programmes and a medical expo with 30 stalls, showcasing innovations and services from across healthcare sectors.
